Scout & Whistle

Makers Vanessa and Darren are the creatives behind Scout & Whistle: a Portland-based home goods company that has vintage roots with a modern twist. Inspired by their first summer living in Portland, the couple found themselves crafting all the decor and design for their wedding. Darren, a film maker, and Vanessa, an artist, both come from fine art backgrounds. Their passion for creating led them to cooking up their brainchild Scout & Whistle.  

Inspired by thrift ships, historic dusty towns and the outdoors, Vanessa and Darren hand make goods that are suitable for a cabin in the woods or a modern metropolitan apartment. Originally from Brooklyn, this couple combines their city roots and passion for the natural world to create textural and playful goods such as pillows, art, and more.

Their aesthetic is a combination of west coast living and old school vibes, all designed for the inner adventurer. Makers Market is thrilled to carry a variety of their textile pillows - the perfect living space accessory.

While they love their New York roots, this team has settled into Portland for the past several years. All goods are hand crafted in their light-filled Portland studio.
