Redefining a Classic With The Rosemary Mint Mule
Last week, we asked you guys to inspire us with photos of the cocktails you were drinking over the weekend with the hashtag #yourcocktailhere. We loved seeing what you were shaking up! You all have such great taste, but one cocktail really stood out from the bunch – @charliebitme’s Rosemary Mint Mule. We wanted to invite ourselves over as soon as we saw it, but instead of being rude, we decided to make our own version!
Here’s a little background information on a traditional Moscow Mule. You might be surprised to learn that the drink didn’t actually originate in Russia. During the 1950s, vodka was still relatively unknown outside of Central Europe and Russia. A man named John Martin purchased Smirnoff, and while in Los Angeles combined his friend’s homemade ginger beer with the spirit in another friend’s copper mug. The drink was success and became extremely popular in America.
We broke tradition a bit while recreating @charliebitme’s Rosemary Mint Mule. Instead of ginger beer, we opted for fresh ginger. And we updated that copper mug with one of our enamel tumblers. The result was a really refreshing drink that we can’t wait to sip all summer long.
