Fabian Fischer is a maker of hand carved wooden furniture. After restoring an old timber frame house in the Italian Alps he discovered the joy of working with wood creatively. Because of it’s out of the way location and lack of electricity, he was forced to make things with hand tools. This necessity became a virtue. It was back in Freiburg, Germany that he built his first stools and chairs. From then on he knew that woodworking was his true calling and he has built handmade furniture ever since. He now works out in the Wisconsin country town of Mazomanie where he uses traditional machinery to craft individual pieces of furniture out of solid hardwoods. His work reflects the techniques and experiences from the past and develops a lasting value for the future.
